The UW-Madison’s Language Institute is an initiative of the College of Letters and Science, with substantial support from the Division of International Studies. Drawing on the wealth of these departments, centers and programs, the Language
Institute fosters and promotes collaboration for research, education and
community outreach efforts in languages, literatures and cultures.
UW-Madison’s Arts Institute works to make the arts more visible and effective at UW-Madison. Governed by arts faculty and staff, the Arts Institute represents the collective voice and strength of the arts at the University. The Arts Institute funds and supports projects with university- and community-wide impact, including outreach programs such as the Wisconsin Film Festival.
The Global Film Initiative (GFI), a non-profit organization, was established to ensure that films from the developing world continue to be created and supported, that these films are regularly available for viewing at cultural institutions throughout the United States and that high school and college students have exposure to these films through their existing curricula. GFI promotes cross-cultural understanding through the medium of cinema.
The Brittingham Trust supports general University objectives with emphasis on projects in the arts and humanities providing distinctive learning experiences.
UW-Madison's Center for Southeast Asian Studies Center operates a vigorous and well-developed program committed to the study of Southeast Asia that is recognized as one of the best worldwide.
