Over 500 students and teachers from Wisconsin and Illinois crowded the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, April 3 for an exciting World Cinema Day featuring the documentary film Football Under Cover.

After viewing Football Under Cover, participants heard from a panel that included UW-Madison professor Venkat Mani, Department of German, Fatemeh Mirsharifi, doctoral student from Iran, and, as a special treat, the film's director David Assmann (from Berlin, Germany).  A lively discussion with questions from the audience covered such topics as life in Iran for women, issues involved in the making of the film,  soccer in Germany and Iran, and the lives of the protagonists in the film.

Football Under Cover was also shown in a public screening at the Wisconsin Film Festival.
