Each RAILS lesson is accompanied by a Teacher’s Guide. The Guides are intended to help teachers quickly and easily become acquainted with the content of each lesson, and to plan for integration of the RAILS lessons into their courses.
The Teachers Guides, PDF files that teachers can print, are bundled with each series of lessons. The Guides are not intended for student use.
Each RAILS Teacher’s Guide consists of the following sections:
1. Lesson overview: A summary of the lesson.
2. Lesson objectives: Alist of the cultural and linguistic objectives of the activities within the lesson that identifies the goals both for what students will work on during the lesson and what they should be able to do as a result after they have finished working on the lesson.
3. Transcripts of video clips and long audio clips: The full text of all video clips and all audio clips longer than approximately one sentence.
4. Additional resources: A list of resources or references that may be useful to teachers using the RAILS lessons.
5. Appendices. Additional resources such as the full text of a useful article.
